About the Authors

about2Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Lisa, and I’m a happily single gal living in the Seattle Metro area.

I started this blog after a lifetime of ‘waiting for my life to start’. I spent so much of my life waiting to be married, waiting to take ownership of home maintenance, and ownership of myself. After a short, unsuccessful marriage, I have realized that there is no reason why a single girl can’t also take control of her home.

Please don’t get me wrong – I am not anti-marriage or anti-man. I love the men in my life, and fully respect the institution of marriage as my parents have been married for 37 years! Many of the tips I will share apply to everyone at any stage in their life. But my focus is on single women. I don’t want any other woman out there to ever put her life on hold waiting for life to start. I want to encourage every single woman to reclaim homemaking for herself!

I would love to hear anything you’ve learned – tips, tricks, advice. Us girls need a little help and advice now and then – please share!

Thank you for reading!

Lisa

*Want to send out a special thanks to a couple people. First to Lori Wildrick, who was the first to tell me “You should start a blog!” Thanks Lori! Also, to Carlos Perez, who had the brilliant idea for the photoshoot. And, of course, my parents for raising to me the adventurous person that I am!

IMG_0737Stefeny is a renaissance woman who has done almost every profession that she can think of and then some. But, her first love is working in the kitchen. She has worked in catering and as a personal chef for years. Growing up in the food industry, she has a passion for what is created in the kitchen, and for helping others find their kitchen goddess. If I was on death row and had to pick my last meal, I would choose anything that Stefeny cooks me. Partly ‘cause she’s awesome, and partly ‘cause I know she’d make sure to not include green beans! A fellow single Modern Homemaker, she knows the both the single girl’s life and that of a busy family through her work as a nanny and chef.

Her philosophy is : A Life Lived in Fear is A Life Half Lived.

beckyMy dear friend Becky has recently left the world of the single gal to enter the land of the married. Despite that, for years she was a shining example of an independent, single woman. Strong minded, loyal, funny, self-aware, generous and never willing to sacrifice for less than she deserves. So, I am allowing her to remain an honorary member of the single club. Each Tuesday, she’ll be giving us a breakdown of that brilliant weekly entertainment show that crosses all womankind – Dancing With The Stars!

  1. Hey, even the married ladies can benefit from these tips/techniques etc! I think some women lose their identity when they get married (I know I have on occasion) It’s always a good reminder that we can do what we set our mind to!

    • Thanks Steph, I agree! Let me know if there’s anything you want me to address or discuss, or anything you want to learn about and I’ll try to get it on here!

  2. I would love to hear more about your parents… they sound AWESOME! Just kidding! Your site is AWESOME! You are an amazing girl Lisa. Good job! Love you! Mom
